About

Local  news,  features  and  advertising  for  Brisbane's  northern  suburbs  are delivered  weekly  on  Wednesdays  to households and businesses in the following suburbs: Aspley, Bald Hills, Boondall, Bracken Ridge, Brighton, Carseldine, Deagon, Fitzgibbon, Geebung (part), Sandgate, Shorncliffe, Taigum, Virginia (part) and Zillmere.

The Bayside and Northern Suburbs Star is a Brisbane owned and based independent newspaper which has no connection with any media group in Australia or overseas. It is currently the largest privately owned general newspaper in the Greater Brisbane area and one of only a handful of independents remaining in south-east Queensland.

The first edition of the newspaper appeared on November 18, 1987 and it has been published continuously each Wednesday since (with the exception of an annual two week break over Christmas).

The Star is professionally letterbox delivered to 14 suburbs in Brisbane's north east with bulk deliveries to businesses within its boundaries and some surrounding areas.

Editorial content primarily consists of local news relevant to the distribution area of the paper, augmented with regular features like Health, Beauty & Fitness, Home Improvements and Motoring Scene, Real Estate, Boating & Fishing.

The Star has been a dominant force in Brisbane North's local media thanks to its high ethical standards in reporting, its level of community involvement and, of course, great value advertising in both display and classifieds coupled with attentive and friendly service.

Hi there, would it be possible to promote in your paper 2 free community-based walking groups in Bracken Ridge and Bald Hills who are wanting more members to join them?  It would be greatly appreciated if you could.
If so the details are below:
    Free local walking groups
Spring is just around the corner – the days are getting longer and the mornings warmer!  Why not dig out your walking shoes, dust off the cobwebs and join your local walking group to enjoy the beautiful pre-spring weather?  The Heart Foundation coordinates the Brisbane City Council's free Gonewalking program and two north side groups are actively seeking new members to join them.  Sixty minute medium-paced health and fitness walks are offered in Bracken Ridge on Monday’s and Wednesday’s at 5:30 a.m. and in Bald Hills on Friday’s at 5:30 a.m..   Please call Linda on 3261 2033 for further details.

would like to know how I can get copies of 2 photos of my son that were published in this edition.  He is 1 on the Air Force Cadets that was part of the Lilley Day Awards at Kedron Wavell RSL on Australia Day. May I also point out that these Cadets are Air Force Cadets not Army Cadets as stated.  They are from the 220 Squadron based at Aviation High at Clayfield.  Great photos and as a proud Mum would love to be able to have copies for my "brag book'.  Please let me know the process I need to take.  Many thanks also for your great weekly paper I look forward to receiving each week as a much better read than the daily ones.  Keep up the great work.   Best wishes  – Jennie Onbashi – 0424 322 749 or onbashij@yahoo.com.au

With all of the serious problems currently  facing Sandgate. We only have Victoria Newton to champion our cause.
I have been trying to contact Kerry Millard our new state rep,but no show yet from this person. I have sent emails to her LNP address. Left messages on her facebook page and made enquiries as to her whereabouts   in Sandgate.
I have been failed in  all of my attempts to contact her. I have now come to the conclusion that she is a NO CAN DO and or COULD NOT BE BOTHERED LNP member.
Vicky Darling was always available.Victoria Newton IS always available.
I hope that the Electors vote Newton at the next elections and not some no show no go LNP person.
Where is our new State member now that we need her? Has she ran away like Campbell Newman did when the floods devastated Brisbane?

  • Kerry Millard MP:

Please note that my LNP email address has not been active since shortly after the March 2012 election.
