Boat ramp renaming ‘under a cloud’

THE name of the Nudgee Boat Ramp has put former community stalwarts the late Ken Vaughan MP and the late Joe Egan at the heart of a political disagreement over the potential renaming of the Nudgee Boat Ramp.
Councillor for Northgate ward Kim Flesser (Labor) recently put forth a 488 signature-strong petition in support of naming the facility the Ken Vaughan Boat Ramp however state member for Nudgee Jason Woodforth (LNP) said he did not support the move.
Unsourced moves have now emerged there is a push to name the ramp in honour of another former community stalwart Joe Egan.
Both men, who sadly passed away in recent years, are considered deserving of the recognition.
Mr Egan undertook valuable voluntary work in the community and was also a founding member of the Zion Hill Bushcare Group, the Nundah Historic Cemetery Preservation Association and the Nundah and Districts Historical Society.
Mr Vaughan was a Labor state member for Nudgee for 17 years. He loved fishing and the environment and was described as
