I am for a new McDonalds in Sandgate. Nothing wrong with a cheeseburger.
just think of the job your kid might get and the funding for little athletics and clean up Australia. They sound like all positives to me.
Bring on McDonalds. Maybe they should open a store in Brighton too.

Having the buildings removed in pier ave at shorncliffe in my opinion is just another nail in the coffin for a historic area such as Shorncliffe. While I accept that the St Patrick's School needs space for the students ,I do not understand why they are allowed to destroy completely the hub of the area. A few back there were shops all along that street and the fast food places ,enough of charcater for a film crew to make a children's TV series along the street. This just a example of big schools and Government treating the locals and local area with <span>Benign Neglect and just expect us in the area to accept it. I grieve for this area and the past that we are throwing away ,we can NEVER get this history back, and it is all but gone to the local area, and now instead of a lively community space we have a dead area in the community . SHAME on the Council for allowing this ,it goes to prove that the council heritage laws DO NOT WORK and are a waste of time,We as a community should be worried that this will happen all over Brisbane not just in Shorncliffe. Soon we will have nothing left of our past . A past that the Council seems to be ashamed of ,

There was always huge support for the One Book Many Brisbanes anthology and writing competition, so it was a real shame when Campbell Newman cancelled the funding for it in October 2010, making the 2011 anthology the last. Writers and readers of Brisbane stories will now miss out, as do authors around Australia after the Premier's Literary Award was recently cancelled by Campbell Newman. Perhaps the candidates currently running for Lord Mayor could revisit re-establishing this very successful and popular Brisbane anthology?

The Lord Mayor has stated the pier will be replaced, After attending todays rally I am at a loss as to what Ms Newton actually wants. Bit hard to say in what form the pier will be replaced until after the engineers report is done.

Quite disgusted that although Ms Newton and Mr Smith were allowed to speak the LNP ward candidate was silenced by the organisers of this so called non political rally. I would have liked to hear her.

Seems a typical ploy from a politican who is desperate. Is Ms Newton about to go th same way as Ms Darling did?

Todays Blue Water Event was ruined by the number of dog owners letting their dogs crap along the foreshore!!!!!!! It's totally disgusting!!!!!!!!
I asked two old ladies with a black poodle to pick up their dogs revolting mess, as they yapped to each other and payed no attention to the dog. When I pointed it out to them they were abusive to me and denied their dog was responsible and refused to pick it up even though I was walking behind them and witnessed the dog crapping on the path.
Can Festival organizers please make some attempt to protect the rest of us from this gross and unhealthy pollution!!!!! It totally ruins an otherwise pleasant experience. The Event is for humans, NOT DOGS!!!!!!!!
